DIXIE DOODLE WANTS YOU!

Dixie in the sandbox Dixie on the Steps

Dixie Doodle, as we like to call her, is the energetic, take-charge sister. She is a georgous, classically mark Shepherd mix. She has some of the most intelligent, soulful eyes you'll ever gaze into.

Dixie came to us in August of 2001. My husband found Dixie and her sister, Necile, sitting in the middle of the road on his way to work. Evidently, they'd just been put out, as they hadn't had time to get off the road.

Dixie is a little more intense than Necile. When we let her out in the morning, she charges out the back door, ready to take on the world. She runs the perimeter of the fence, checking on the neighboring dogs and the situation in general. She plays well with our kids, though she's very 'busy' and won't stay still long enough for them to roll around with. Dixie is housebroken and loves to be in her crate (so she can stare at the cats!) She doesn't bother them too much, but is very intrigued by her feline housemates. She doesn't bark a lot, once she's made her rounds. She, too, would be great family protection.

Dixie is up-to-date on vaccines and has been on heartworm prevention since we've had her. She has been spayed. She doesn't have the double dew claws her sibling does. She's just a tad bigger than Necile, weighing about 45 pounds.

Dixie is an extremely bright, high-energy girl. She would thrive in a working situation, possibly as a drug, arson, or search and rescue dog. She would be very devoted, but needs a strong alpha human who has the time and desire to guide her to her full potential.
